OMHSAS Committee Members Sought
Applications due early February.
The PA Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) is Now Seeking Applicants for Advisory Committee Membership
Are you the parent of a child with SED (a serious emotional disturbance)? Are you the family member of someone with SMI (a serious mental illness)? Or have you, yourself, dealt with a mental illness diagnosis?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you may want to apply for membership on the Adult, Children's, or Older Adult Advisory Committee to the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare.
The OMHSAS Advisory Committees provide a key opportunity for consumers, family members, and advocates to partner with OMHSAS leadership to shape the future of mental health and substance abuse services in Pennsylvania. You can help bring the vision and hope of recovery and resiliency to our communities.
Consumers and family members are encouraged to apply now for positions on the OMHSAS Advisory Committees. Members of minority groups are especially encouraged to apply. The OMHSAS Advisory Committees meet six times a year, on the first Thursdays of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Travel and hotel costs are reimbursed for qualified consumers and family members.
Applications received by February 1st, 2007, will be considered for appointment for three-year terms beginning in mid-2007. If you see this notice after the due date, please request an extension. The application takes only a few minutes to complete. The cover page of the application provides more information about service on the Advisory Committees.
