Psychosocial Treatments Four Times More Effective in Combating Youth Depression
A research review from the Nordic Campbell Center indicates that psychosocial treatment methods are on average four times more effective than pharmacological treatments for depression in youth—regardless of the severity of the symptoms. The review also concludes that the effect is greater for teenagers than for young children and greater for girls than for boys."Keeping Families Together Act” Reintroduced
The House and Senate have reintroduced the Keeping Families Together Act (KFTA). This legislation would provide $100 million in new family support grants that will help states provide better services to children and families, and end the need for parents to relinquish custody of a child in order to access necessary mental health services. The RTC is funded by the Child, Adolescent and Family Branch, Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, U.S. Department of Education.
