NAMI Pennsylvania is holding a seminar with Dr. Barbara Burns, leading national expert on evidence-based practices (EBPs) in children’s mental health, on Thursday, October 25th at the Radisson Penn Harris Hotel in Camp Hill.
The interactive seminar is specifically designed for families and policy makers and will provide them with opportunities to share what is needed in effective mental health services for children living with serious mental illnesses. Dr. Burns, from Duke University, will discuss the basics of EBPs, specific effective interventions, and how to advance these valuable treatment options in Pennsylvania. She will discuss the latest research and approaches to evidence-based practices, with a strong focus on the family member's role. Participants will also receive a free copy of NAMI’s family guide – Choosing the Right Treatment: What Families Need to Know about Evidence-Based Practices.
There is a morning session for families, and an early afternoon session for advocates and state officials. NAMI has arranged for a special session specifically for those who are involved in the MacArthur Models for Change Initiative. This session will be from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
The seminar is free but please confirm your attendance by contacting NAMI Pennsylvania at 717-238-1514 or 800-223-0500. You may also register on line at http://namipa.nami.org.
