PA Children’s News Debuts Enhanced Juvenile Justice Web Pages
With this issue of Children’s News, we continue our improvements to the Children’s News website by debuting a redesign of the site’s Juvenile Justice section. This area of our website serves as a one-stop source of information for families, youth, and the community about Pennsylvania’s Juvenile Justice System, and includes news updates and alerts about events impacting the system and the people it serves.
The new section features:
- Information about current reform work in Pennsylvania.
- A news and information page about the Luzerne County Juvenile Justice Corruption Scandal. The next expected news event for this topic will be the release of the recommendations from the Interbranch Commission on Juvenile Justice on May 27, 2010. Stay tuned for PA Children’s News response to this response, including opportunities for public comment and response.
- Materials that explain the Juvenile Justice System and the rights and responsibilities youth and families have in the juvenile justice process.
- Information about county Family Advocates who can support families in working with the Juvenile Justice System.
- Information about the Advocates available to youth in state operated juvenile justice facilities and their families.
- The ability for readers to comment on articles.
As always, we encourage all readers to use the site for information and to reach out to us through Ask the Advocate, Speak Out!, Share Your News or our new comment feature following news articles. Share your stories, concerns, news, questions, events, and feedback with us. We look forward to hearing from you.
