1. Determine if your child:

  • Has a chronic health condition- neurological, physical, and/or emotional.
  • Needs a Chapter 15/ 504 Service Plan or an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Both require evaluations.
  • Your child’s school must explain these processes and avenues of appeal

2. When the above is not sufficient, call the PA Department of Education’s Consultline at 800-222-3353 or 800-992-4334. The Consultline provides direct compliance enforcement.  It also sends trained IEP Facilitators and Special Education Mediators to help families in their local schools at a family’s request.

3. When the above not sufficient, call MHAPA at 866-578-3659 (email – info@mhapa.org) and/or the Education Law Center at 215-238-8070.
